Alexandra Hatley (she/her) is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. With a background in psychology and sociology, Alex has experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and supporting those in crisis. Her counseling philosophy is rooted in multiculturalism and feminism, integrating cognitive-behavioral and person-centered approaches. Passionate about trauma-informed care, Alex is exploring somatic techniques to help clients process trauma stored in the body, fostering healing and self-empowerment. Alex has also begun studies in sex therapy to support clients in exploring the complexities of sexuality, intimacy, and sexual health, including addressing sexuality-related concerns and dysfunctions.

"In alignment with the Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Competencies (MSJCC), I recognize that each individual holds a unique, multifaceted cultural identity shaped by intersecting experiences and backgrounds. A cornerstone of my counseling approach is the practice of cultural humility, which honors clients’ autonomy in defining the aspects of their identity that are most meaningful to them. Additionally, I am committed to advocating for systemic change to address and reduce inequities, promoting justice and inclusivity at individual, institutional, and societal levels."
